Jimbaran Engineering Pty Ltd (JE) has been 100% dedicated to supplying automated vent door control systems to the Underground Coal Industry in both QLD and NSW since 2011.

We have supplied automation kits fitted to many different machine vent door manufacturers’ products throughout the industry and are committed to working closely with VCD manufacturers to ensure the end user receives a complete package which will perform as required.

All our kits have evolved over time and are supplied as a simple plug and play system with market leading safety inclusions as part of the standard spec developed from industry input and feedback.

We have standard automation system kits for the following normal installations underground:

• Low Differential Pressure Single Segregation Machine Vent Doors installed between intake airways. (System 1 Kit)
• High Differential Pressure Ventilation Airlocks installed between intake and return airways with no interlock connection. (System 2 Kit)
• Interlocked High Differential Pressure Ventilation Airlocks installed between intake and return airways with an interlock connection between them to reduce the risk of the ventilation being accidentally short circuited underground. (System 3 Kit)

We have worked with many clients to design and supply customised automation systems to suit their individual needs for any unique installation underground.

We can supply cost effective upgrade kits to retro fit into existing pneumatic kits (from alternative suppliers) being used on site to instantly increase the level of safety, improved operation and reliability, without the extra expense of having to remove and replace original existing kits.

We have developed a Booster Cylinder Kit that can be integrated into existing pneumatic kits that struggle to open machine regulator vent doors against high ventilation pressure that will not place any extra force on the installed head frame so therefore will not crack the stopping material above through movement.   

JE has suppled more expensive Air over Hydraulic type automation systems when the ventilation pressure at the installation site is too high for the more cost effective pneumatic system option for an underground hard rock mine with very large machine fire vent doors but have never had to deal with that issue in any underground coal mine to date.

JE can supply an underground coal spec Air Over Hydraulic automation system if required. 

JE is available to assist with Site Specific Risk Assessments as a content expert and can carry out on site training for installation and ongoing maintenance as required.
